Closed Loop Vertical
This system consists of drilling holes to a certain depth then installing a u- bend loop and grouting the bore hole back to the surface. The number, size and depth of the bore holes depend on the size of unit needed for the home.( In general you need one bore hole for every two ton)

Open Loop Vertical
This system consists of drilling a well and installing a pump system. Water is pumped and used for heat exchange. You need about 2 gpm per ton. You also need to be able to discharge this water either into an injection well or harness the water for other uses. (Pond, livestock, irrigation, etc.)
